From down South to the very top!

Our day started in Noho, in the beautiful Washington Square Park. However, somebody forgot to tell us that it is completely under construction. INCLUDING the playground! Marie-Louise was the only one who still had a smile at her face, at this stage. We soon hereafter found a cap and drove off to the next park ...

Our 'rescue' playground in the Tompkins Square Park, East Village:

After some nice playing time, we started to explore the area. Father and daugther on tour:

Houses and shops on our way through East Village and Greenwich Village.

New Yorkers on the run - and at the stand:

Finding our way through Madison Square ...

By the end of our 'little walk' Sebastian just could not take another step. He found a willing horse to help him out!

And the Flatiron building never seizes to amaze ...

After a little siesta at the hotel we went to the Rockefeller Center, planning to go up on the top. Walking the 5 blocks down to the place, Sebastian lost his courage to go up in the tall tower. Especially when we were standing at its very feet, and hardly could see top from the buttom. We assured him that everything was going to be alright, and he decided to give it a try. Needless to say, he was very pleased with himself, when we finally overlooked this craziests sights of the world.

Going for steaks at Teds Montana Grill for dinner. Although we had to run around the Rockefeller Center blocks for some time to find our way, we managed in the end. And was not dissapointed!

Hey, I am two years old. And I know perfectly well how to play games on a phone. Ka' selv - vil selv!

Fun at the playground

Another playful day

Being a little jet-lagged still, we started out bright and early this Sunday morning. At 8 o'clock we were ready for a horse-carriage trip around Central Park, which we all enjoyed.

We returned to the Heckscher playground in Central Park. This time with water splashing, which the kids loved.

We went to see the Central Park Zoo. Sebastian became a close friend of the snow leopard, and Marie-Louise was very fond of the penguins. We did not find Madagascar-Alex - he must have escaped!

After a long siesta, we went out for a stroll in the neighbourhood. We had an icecream in the very noisy and touristic Times Square area, and soon decided to look for a calmer place. This we found a couple of streets away, where Tue spotted a nice sushi restaurant. Here we are waiting for our take-away from Sushi of Gari on West 46th street. Both kids were busy on the phones playing ;-) The sushi was excellent, by the way!

A beautiful summer day!

After a VERY long journey from Ørholm in Denmark to our hotel in New York, we all just needed to sleep. VERY badly! Travelling 8 hours on monkey class SAS with kids to New York is something which demands a lot of patience. Poor Marie-Louise ended up being sick to her stomach from the flight which unfortunately was not that smooth. And continuing with a 'stop-go' cap driver into the city did not make her condition better. On the contrary. However, a good nights sleep has helped us all.

Being a little 'out-of-time' we woke up early this morning. VERY early. Marie-Louise as the first at 4 o'clock (waking up Tue at the same time)! Kirstine at 4.30, and Sebastian at 6, as he could smell the choko-croisants from the oven ;-) We have been lucky to find a very nice hotel, with two separate bedrooms and a kitchen-livingroom- dinningroom. We even have a washer and dryer, which came in handy after the turbulent flight.

We started the day a little after 7 (!!!) by strolling up to Central Park and the great Heckscher playground. The kids loved it.

The mom loved it too!
We went for pancakes and some omelets before heading over to the two big toy-shop goals of our trip: the FAO Schwarz and the Apple store on fifth avenue. They are lying door-to-door - so what else could we ask for!
After our visit to the Apple store - which did not result in the purchase of an iPad (it had to be reserved, which we have now tried to, but we will see if it will be available before leaving the city on Wednesday) - we looked up at some of those amazing buildings, streching up to the sky:

Having missed out on shopping in the Apple store, we went to the FAO Schwarz shop next door, which gave us other opportunities. Sebastian found a great book about Lego Star Wars, which can give him all the details from the legendary history, which his parents so far have had a hard time to remember (or frankly: made up of their own!).
The early morning made us walk back to the hotel for a siesta and a light lunch. In the afternoon we went to Times Square (less than a block away!) and contemplated the immense bombardement of information, which is served to you in this the craziest of intersections in the world.

Being on Time Square, we - of course - went to Toys'R'Us. Marie-Louise insisted on a ride in the big wheel which is in the shop itself, passing all four levels of the shop. She was a very happy girl!
From Times Square we walked to Bryant Park, where we had an ice-cream break and looked at new yorkers playing table-tennis. The weather is very nice, warm - about 30 degrees!

The last sight of the day was the Grand Central Station. Sebastian recognized the place from the Madagascar movie, and Marie-Louise was too occupied with the beautiful ceiling to look into the camera ;-)

We went next door to our hotel at a small restaurant for dinner. It was two very tired kids AND two very tired parents who stumbled into our nice hotel room at 19.30h. 5 min. later Marie-Louise was fast asleep ...
