Busy bees ...

I know I havn't updated for quite a while. Explanations to follow ...

First of all we have moved to Ørholm now. An absolutely fantastic spot on Earth, and our whole little family is so thrilled with our new access to a green garden and an area with forest, a river and plenty of outdoor activities.

The move itself was challenging (as moving houses just are), not least due to the fact that both Sebastian and Marie-Louise went down with the stomach flu (second time in two months!) only two days before the actual move. Splendid! After a week in the house - with everything in chaos and two children sick to their stomachs - both Tue and I went down with the bug. Perfect! Marie-Louise then topped all of this by going down with some heavy fevers and ear-problems which only stopped a week ago. Poor girl. The next step is to get her those drains in the ears, which our ear-specialist has been mumbling about for 8 months now!

Thirdly I have been going through a first round of PGD, in order to try to get pregnant with a healthy sibling to Sebastian and Marie-Louise, who could make a 100% donor for Sebastian, when transplant becomes important. The process has been fine, and one egg could be reinserted - which in itself is some sort of success. However, it did not result in pregnancy, and we will just have to try again.

Fourthly Sebastians long waited hand-surgery is due this coming Friday. Sebastian has no thumb on the left hand and on his right hand the thumb is very loose and cannot grib. This could be the reason why Sebastian hardly ever draws, and why he avoids doing other things with his hands. He tries - but the fingers/hand-grib are not always strong enough - and then he moves on to something else. The hand-surgery will help Sebastian a great deal as he will get a better functioning thumb and might be able to hold better on pencils. At first when we heard about the possibility we were reluctant. His first surgery caused blood counts to drop dramaticaly and he had to have a  bloodtransfusion which stabilised his bloodcounts.
Today we used the entire day at the hospital preparing for the surgery. We are admitted to hospital tomorrow night, and the surgery will be on Friday morning. Hopefully Sebastian can come home already on Saturday morning. He is to wear a cast covering the whole arm (to the shoulder) and hand for four weeks. No sand and water, no bathtub playing - but hopefully a lot of movie watching. Which Sebastian seems to be ok with ;-)

Marie-Louise is to move day nursery 1.st of May. Currently she is in a rather big (48 children divided into 4 groups) day nursery next door to Sebastians kindergarten. The new day nurcery is just 500 meters from our home which will give us more flexibility. Also there is only 10 children - a big advantage when we try to minimize the amount of bugs that we expose Sebastian to.

I hope to soon be able to post pictures from the house, from our new wooden terrace, from our little garden, and from our first trip in a canoe with the kids on the nearby river. That was really a lot of fun!
