Well - what happened here?
Since Sebastian was a baby he always started to cry when he got near a swing. Everytime we tried he would cry his lungs out. So we stopped trying of course. When we found out he had problems with his hearing, we were given the explanation to why he had always tried to avoid swings: some people with hearing problems have problems with the balance as well, and swinging might just be one of the things that Sebastian cannot do. That seemed like a plausible explanation. Also to why he did not like us to rock him, e.i. when he needed to be comforted.
Well - explanations plausible until now. We have put up a swing for Marie-Louise. And after a couple of weeks Sebastian asks me - from out of the blue - "mom, I would like to swing". And so he swings - hearing impairment or not!!!
